Jessica Baird

Jessica is from Ottawa, Canada and founded the project when she left her teaching position in 2017. She requested fun socks to get her through medical appointments, in which she received thousands of pairs of socks. She decided to "pay it forward" and gift socks to folks suffering chronic illness.

In 2018, Baird was diagnosed with a rare auto immune disease known as Ankylosing Spondylitis: a degenerative disease that affects the spinal region.

A children's book titled The Socks was released in March. Baird also completed a segment in 2018 on TVO Kids about The Sock Project and auto immune diseases. She is also in the early stages of designing a line of socks that proceeds will be donated to auto immune research.
